Yagluth Guide — Valheim's Plains Boss: Meteor Rain, Fire Breath and Frost Counters
Published 2026-09-236 min read
How to summon and beat Yagluth in Valheim: five fuling totems, dodging the meteor shower and fire breath, why frost damage rules the fight, and his elemental resistance power.
Yagluth is the smoldering skeleton king of the Plains and Valheim's fifth boss: a slow, apocalyptic artillery duel where the arena itself catches fire. Bring frost, bring fire resistance, and bring patience.

Summoning: five fuling totems
Yagluth's altar hides among the Plains' stone circles (the vegvisir runestones in fuling villages point the way). The summon costs five Fuling Totems — drops from Fuling Berserkers and fuling village chests. Farming five totems means several village assaults, so gear the accompanying fights properly: padded armor, black metal weapons, and a secure forward base.
Pre-fight prep
- Frost damage everywhere: Frostner in melee, frost arrows in bulk. Yagluth takes bonus frost damage; this one choice halves the fight.
- Fire resistance barley wine, drunk at the arena: his breath and meteors are fire-typed, and the wine turns lethal ticks into survivable ones.
- Top-tier plains food and healing mead; his attacks one-shot under-fed characters.
- Arena: the Plains around the altar are flat and open — ideal for his meteor rain, so raise a few earthen cover mounds and a fallback wall with the hoe before summoning.
The fight
- Fire breath: a sweeping cone from his skull. Roll through the sweep or break line of sight behind cover; the barley wine makes partial hits survivable.
- Meteor shower: he raises his crown and rains targeted meteors marked by ground glows. Keep moving in wide circles — standing still to shoot is how meteors find you; do your bow work between volleys.
- Bite and stomp: close-range punishers with long recoveries — melee windows behind his flanks.
- Lingering zones: several attacks leave glowing damage patches on the ground; walk out of them and let regen work.
Solo play is a bow fight: full-draw frost arrows between his animations, wide strafing during meteor rain, and melee bursts only when he commits a breath that misses. Groups: one tank draws aggro in melee range while archers work the flanks; his turns are slow enough that disciplined flanking never gets touched.
Rewards and the power
Yagluth drops his trophy and his power: elemental resistance — five minutes of reduced fire, frost and poison damage. It is the best all-purpose defensive power for the Mistlands and Ashlands, where elemental damage is ambient. Slot it for every new-biome expedition; slot Moder for hauling.
